Mount Lemmon Cafe

I wish I could say it is worth the wait, but time and again, the wait has been way too long. The food is good when it finally gets there.

Boy I was so looking forward to lunch at the Mt. Lemmon Cafe today on my trip up the mountain. My party of 3 arrived before the lunch rush on an off-day and the service was the worst I've ever experienced in my adult life. We got our own menus and waited 30 minutes to even put our order in. In the meantime lots of people were coming in and sitting both inside and out and it became very obvious that the waiter was indifferent to taking orders and even figuring out which parties were going to get their order taken. Many people even tried to order where you would normally pay at the front desk but that was a no go (they were told to go take their seat and their order would be taken). At some point tables of people would just get up and leave and go eat at the only other restaurant in Summer Haven. Our order came finally and it was wrong, I only got some water to drink by being assertive and hit up the guy cutting up pies. It was almost surreal except if it was so unexpected in such a charming little lunch place to get service that was out of the twilight zone. So hungry diners beware.

It is a fantastic drive up! good view and food.

After climbing Mt Lemon and hiking for hours, this is the place you want to go to eat afterwards! After building your appetite, you must stop by this local mom and pop owned restaurant and try the cheesecake - absolutely the best!
