Calvary Community Church

Despite its size (it's huge!) this church feels homey. There is a strong commitment to the community and they offer simple, Bible based teaching. Nice place.

We searched and searched for the church to call home and this was the place that made us feel as if we were ment to be there. Simple bible teachings by Pastor Mark and his team have truely made us feel blessed

My family and I had the opportunity to attend Calvary this past weekend. It is conveniently located right off of I-17 in between Cactus and Thunderbird. They have a variety of services including two on Saturday night. They have activites for all ages of children 0-18. They have lots of interesting ministriesjust about something for everyone.

This church is excellent if you are a seasoned Christian. I was a bit disappointed in the atmosphere, as I don't think someone who was new to the church or seeking a relationship with the Lord would feel very comfortable. The sermons are basically a line-by-line teaching of scripture, which is fine for seasoned Christians, but a bit overwhelming for new believers or non-believers. The worship was contemporary, but somewhat dull.

Overall, this is a nice church. It has a decent mix of traditionalism and more contemporary things to it. Try it out. It just might be for you.

PROS: Convenient location. Lots of ministries.
CONS: Not seeker sensitive (i.e., not comfortable for new Christians)

Calvary is a warm, friendly, & safe place to visit and a must-see if looking for a Church home. The ministry is solidly Bible-based almost to the point of being fanatical about it but this is a GOOD thing for many reasons. Their doctorine doesn't change with every fad that rolls in. It is not a wishy-washy Church, nor is it a lukewarm congregation. It's all about Jesus and it's only about Jesus. There is no other focus here and it shows. Yet there is no pressure-no pushiness- no hustle like in other churches. They won't even allow you as a visitor to put anything in the offering - now how odd is THAT?! Fantastic music -- no organ, no pulpit, no steeple - the entire campus is a converted shopping center/strip mall. Casual attire, bring your Bible and be prepared to write in it! Free recordings of all prior services and messages - you gotta see it to believe it

Calvary Community Church is a Christian church that is a nice place to attend. They have great sermons and friendly pastors. They have programs for children too. They have gone through expansion and renovations so is very nice. If you are looking for a church to attend then I would recommend visiting this church and seeing if you like it too.
